You come up the stairs at Asok and the city hits you all at once. Skytrain overhead, the MRT spilling people out underneath, Terminal 21 glowing on the corner, Sukhumvit traffic doing whatever it wants. And on every side street, a green cross or a cannabis leaf trying to catch your eye.
Asok is the busiest junction on the Sukhumvit line and one of the busiest dispensary zones in Bangkok. If you want weed near Asok, you will not struggle to find a shop. You will struggle to find a good one without walking into three bad ones first.
So here is the short answer. These are the licensed dispensaries I would actually send you to within 600m of Asok BTS or Sukhumvit MRT, with walking times measured from verified station coordinates, not guessed from a map pin. After 900+ dispensary visits, 900+ of them in Bangkok, this junction is one I know on foot.
Two stations, one junction. BTS Asok (E4) on the Sukhumvit line and MRT Sukhumvit (BL22) on the Blue Line are an interchange, a couple of minutes apart on foot. I measured every shop below against both and give you the shorter walk.
Two sides of the road. The north side runs up Asok Montri Road (Soi 21) and into Soi 23, where Soi Cowboy sits. The south side drops into the Soi 10 and Soi 12 pocket, with Korean Town tucked behind it. Crossing Sukhumvit here takes longer than the map suggests, so pick your side before you go.
Why 600m. My BTS dispensary rule says the ideal shop is five minutes or less from the station. In practice 600m is the outer edge, about seven or eight minutes in Bangkok heat. Beyond that, a shop needs to be special to be worth the sweat.
Every shop below matched an entry on the official licence register when I compiled this. Hours and licences change, so confirm before you go, and check the licence sticker at the door or look the shop up on the ThaiCannaMapped Dispensary Register.
Best for: a reliable stop woven into the nightlife circuit.
This branch sits right on Soi Cowboy, about 2 minutes' walk from Sukhumvit MRT and about 3 minutes from Asok BTS (roughly 150m and 250m). Thai Cannabis Club makes a lot of its own accessories in house, and that attention to detail shows in how the shops are run: clean, English friendly, recognisable green branding, no confusion about what you are buying. It is not trying to be a boutique. It is trying to be the dependable option in a street built for distraction, and it manages that. Open until about 3am, so a good choice if your evening starts after dinner.
Best for: experienced buyers hunting specific, rare genetics.
About 4 minutes' walk from Asok BTS (roughly 350m), on the Soi 10 side of Sukhumvit. Guwop runs almost entirely on Instagram and word of mouth, with no website and no noise, and it has built a following because of what is in the jars. This is the exotic strain specialist of the junction. If you walk in knowing what you want, and it is something you cannot find at the chains, start here. Doors open mid afternoon, so it is not your morning stop.
Best for: smelling before you choose.
The Four Twenty flagship sits on the fifth floor of a building on Asok Montri Road, about 4 minutes' walk from Sukhumvit MRT (roughly 350m) and about 5 minutes from Asok BTS. The detail I like most is practical: a table of open jars you can smell before you choose, which is exactly how buying flower should work. Regulars keep coming back for a sativa called Laughing Buddha. Buy at the counter, then take it home.
Best for: an unhurried evening visit with a sense of occasion.
On Soi 23, about 6 minutes' walk from Sukhumvit MRT (roughly 500m), near the edge of my radius and worth the extra steps. Golden Hour built its name on Instagram, and in person it lives up to the photos: warm lighting and a considered interior that turn a quick errand into a proper stop. Close to 1,900 Google reviews at a 5.0 average. Their hand rolled joints have a following of their own, which helps if you travelled without rolling gear. Go around dusk, as the name suggests.
Asok changes character after about 9pm. Soi Cowboy lights up, Soi 23 fills with bar traffic, and the sidewalks around the junction get crowded and loud. None of that is dangerous in itself, but it is not the environment for making careful buying decisions.
Buy early if you can. The best budtenders tend to work afternoon and evening shifts. A 4pm visit gets you more attention than a 1am one.
Ignore the touts. If someone on the street offers to walk you to a shop, or offers to sell you something directly, the answer is no. Licensed shops do not need street promoters, and anything sold on the pavement is outside the legal system entirely.
Know where you are going first. The worst purchases at this junction happen when people wander from neon sign to neon sign. Pick from the list above before you leave the hotel.
Buying flower legally in Thailand now means a licensed shop and a PT33 prescription from a Thai licensed practitioner. Tourists can get one with a passport, and a foreign prescription does not count. The cleanest route is an in person consultation before you buy, not a chat on your phone. The full process is in my PT33 prescription guide.
Then take it somewhere private. Not the street, not Benjakitti Park, not the shop. Hotels depend entirely on hotel policy. The practical rundown is in where you can actually smoke in Bangkok.
One stop west, Nana. The Nana stretch is even denser. TOPSHELF, almost on top of Nana BTS, is also about 7 minutes' walk from Asok (roughly 600m), so if you are staying between the two stations it is a fair option either way. The full list is in my guide to weed near Nana BTS.
One stop east, Phrom Phong. Calmer, more residential, and home to some of the best service in Bangkok. See weed near Phrom Phong.
The whole corridor. For the bigger picture from Nana to On Nut, read my Sukhumvit dispensary guide. For the best shops across the whole city, see the best weed shops in Bangkok, and if you are new to all of this, start with weed in Bangkok: where to buy, what it costs, what is legal now.
Late or working. If you need a door open at 3am, see my 24 hour dispensary picks. If you want somewhere to sit with a laptop, see Bangkok's co-working dispensaries.
Is there a dispensary inside Asok station? No shop sits inside the station itself, but several licensed shops are within a 2 to 5 minute walk of Asok BTS or Sukhumvit MRT.
Do I need a prescription to buy weed near Asok? Yes. Licensed shops can only sell flower to someone with a valid PT33 prescription from a Thai licensed practitioner. Adults 20+ only.
Which side of Sukhumvit is better? The north side (Asok Montri, Soi 21 and Soi 23) has more choice. The south side (Soi 10 and Soi 12) is quieter. Decide before you cross the road.
The four shops above are the Asok highlights. My Exit, Elevate list has 60+ Bangkok dispensaries under 600m from a BTS or MRT stop, and Sukhumvit Sessions covers 25+ from Nana to On Nut. Both are free on the curated list page, ready to load into Google Maps before you step off the train.
I post station by station finds on Instagram, including the ones that disappointed me. The people who know this junction best, the operators and budtenders, talk inside Reefers Club, an invite only community of people in the Thai cannabis industry. And for the Asok shops trying to stand out at the busiest corner in the city without breaking the advertising ban, that is exactly what my marketing and content work is for.
Pick your side of the road. Then pick your shop.
Written by someone who has crossed the Asok junction more times than any sane person should, usually in the wrong direction.
This article reflects personal observations from extensive dispensary visits. Shop details, hours and licence status change, so confirm before you go. Legal purchase in Thailand requires a PT33 prescription. Consume in private only. Adults 20+ only.
