Get the lists
Every visitor I meet in Bangkok has a shop name in their head before they land. A friend mentioned it. A travel video showed it. They saw it on a list. And before they ever walk through a door, they type that name into Google.
So I got curious. Which dispensary names do people actually search for? I pulled branded search estimates for the best known licensed shops in Bangkok and lined them up against my own notes from 900+ dispensary visits. The most Googled dispensaries in Bangkok are Fat Buds, Siam Green, Sawadee Sativa, Four Twenty, MedMen Bangkok and CANABANGKA, with Cannabis Twins, Stash and a few others behind them. Some of them deserve the attention. A couple are coasting on a famous name. And some of the city's best shops barely register in search at all.
I used a keyword research tool to estimate monthly worldwide searches for each shop's brand name, on its own and with "Bangkok" added, keeping whichever version was clearly about the Bangkok shop. I only looked at curated shops that matched an active licence on the official register.
Three honest caveats:
The numbers are estimates. Keyword tools model search demand. They do not count it. Treat everything below as rounded and directional.
Some names are shared. A brand name that is also a common phrase, a strain or an overseas business will pick up searches that have nothing to do with Bangkok. I flag those where I suspect it.
Search is not quality. A shop gets searched because people have heard of it, which says more about word of mouth than about what is in the jars.
Every shop here matched an active licence on the official register when I compiled this. Hours and licences change, so confirm before you go, and check the licence sticker or the Dispensary Register.
Search demand: the clear leader. "Fat Buds Bangkok" alone draws around 1,600 searches a month, and the Sathorn branch gets a few hundred more on its own.
Fat Buds is a small Bangkok chain, and two of its branches are among my favourites. Sathorn is the main event: a multi floor building off Soi Sathon 11, about a 10 minute walk from Chong Nonsi BTS, where you are handed cold water and given proper time with staff who explain the menu without pressure. Ekkamai, a short walk from Ekkamai BTS on Sukhumvit 65, is the opposite in mood: grungy, honest, community first, with an everyday option on the menu alongside the exotic jars and staff who will talk you through where the flower comes from. Sathorn has 2,100+ Google reviews at 5.0, Ekkamai 1,100+.
Honest verdict: deserves the attention. The one catch is that not every Fat Buds branch is equal, and not every branch matched cleanly on the register, so stick to the two named here.
Search demand: strong. The full brand name draws close to 900 searches a month, though "Siam Green" on its own can just as easily mean something else.
The Phrom Phong flagship sits right by the BTS and is the most frictionless dispensary experience in Bangkok: uniformed staff, humidity controlled displays, fluent English, a loyalty programme, and a Thai traditional medicine practitioner on site for your PT33. It has over 2,000 Google reviews at 5.0.
Honest verdict: earned. This is where I send nervous first timers, and the product and service are consistently good.
Search demand: surprisingly high for a single shop, at roughly 600 searches a month.
Directly opposite CentralWorld on Ratchadamri Road, with a calm teal and white interior that feels more boutique than weed shop. A budtender called Wood is named in review after review for his strain knowledge. 1,500+ Google reviews at 4.9.
Honest verdict: deserves it. It closes before midnight, so plan an afternoon or early evening visit.
Search demand: strong, with "Four Twenty dispensary" drawing a few hundred searches a month. The High Garden Asok flagship itself is searched by name only a few dozen times.
High Garden is on the fifth floor of a building on Sukhumvit 21, a short walk from Sukhumvit MRT and Asok BTS. The detail I love is a central table of open jars you can smell freely before you choose, which is how buying flower should work everywhere. 1,200+ Google reviews at 4.9.
Honest verdict: the experience earns the search. Go earlier in the day if you want time with the staff.
Search demand: a few hundred a month for "MedMen Bangkok".
On Sukhumvit Soi 11, within walking distance of Nana BTS. Clean retail design, touch screen menus, slow drip coffee and vinyl records on the shelves. 900+ Google reviews at 5.0.
Honest verdict: a genuinely good shop, but I suspect part of the search demand comes from the name. MedMen is a famous American cannabis brand, and plenty of searchers are probably checking whether the Bangkok shop is connected. Judge it on the jars, which are good, not on the name.
Search demand: a few hundred a month for the brand.
A Thai owned Bangkok brand that pitches itself on farm to shelf transparency and GACP certified flower from its own farm. CANABANGKA Metro is on Soi Phetchaburi 13 in the Pratunam area and offers a prescription service. CANABANGKA UndergrounD sits near Chong Nonsi BTS in the Silom area, a neon lit space that feels more like a members' club than a shop.
Honest verdict: the provenance story is the reason to go, and in a market where most shops cannot tell you where the flower was grown, that matters. The branches are smaller and fewer people review them, so check opening hours: UndergrounD does not open until mid afternoon.
Search demand: a few hundred a month for the brand, mostly without "Bangkok" attached.
Started by two people from banking and tech, with one of the best designed interiors in the city: fluted wood, bare concrete, green velvet. It is in a narrow lane between Sala Daeng BTS and Si Lom MRT. 1,500+ Google reviews at 5.0.
Honest verdict: deserves more search than it gets. If you are anywhere near Silom, go. The Silom guide has the rest of the area.
Search demand: modest, a couple of hundred searches a month for "Stash BKK". The plain word "stash" is drowned out by dispensaries of the same name in the United States.
The On Nut branch is my personal benchmark: open 24 hours, a short walk from On Nut BTS, women owned, LGBTQ+ friendly, with properly trained staff and a deep menu. 1,700+ Google reviews at 5.0.
Honest verdict: under searched for how good it is. This is the clearest case of a shop that wins on reputation rather than search.
A few more licensed shops show steady branded demand, in the tens to low hundreds a month:
All Time High, Sukhumvit Soi 3, about a seven minute walk from Nana BTS, open 24 hours. A strong all rounder with an international crowd. Some of its searches are likely people using the phrase for something else entirely.
Mary Jane, Nana. One of the original premium shops, a short walk from Nana BTS, with certificates of analysis as standard and a Thai traditional medicine practitioner on site.
Trippy Nation, Thonglor. Right by Thong Lo BTS, open 24 hours, close to 2,000 Google reviews at a perfect 5.0 and yet only modest search. More in the Thong Lo and Ekkamai guide.
Khaosan Kush Club. The Khao San Road shop that actually earned its reviews, with staff praised by name again and again.
TYGER WEED and Guwop Exotics both came back with branded search estimates higher than Siam Green's. I do not believe that reflects Bangkok demand.
TYGER WEED is a genuinely good 24 hour shop right by Ekkamai BTS, with a loyal local following. But "tyger weed" with "Bangkok" added returned almost nothing, which suggests the bigger number is people searching for something else. Guwop Exotics, a short walk from Asok BTS and a specialist in rarer strains, shares its name with an American rapper's nickname, and again the Bangkok version barely registers. Both shops are worth a visit. Neither is as searched as the raw number suggests.
This is the finding I find most interesting. Some of Bangkok's most reviewed dispensaries have almost no branded search at all.
Kush House, on Sukhumvit Soi 22, has 1,100+ Google reviews, and its name showed no measurable search demand in the tool. Trippy Nation, with close to 2,000 reviews, shows only modest search.
What that tells me is that most visitors do not find dispensaries by searching a name. They open Google Maps, search "weed shop near me" from their hotel, and walk to whatever has good stars nearby. Reviews pile up from foot traffic, not fame. I wrote about the limits of those stars in are dispensary ratings real? and about the shops the map tends to hide in the dispensary Google won't show you.
The lesson: a shop you have never heard of, two minutes from your hotel, can beat the famous one across town.
If you put my ranking of the best weed shops in Bangkok next to this one, the overlap is real but partial. Fat Buds, Siam Green, Sawadee Sativa, Four Twenty and Cannabis Twins appear on both. Stash and Trippy Nation are better than their search numbers. MedMen gets a search boost from its name.
Whichever you choose, you need a PT33 prescription, your passport, and to be 20 or older. You buy at the counter and consume later in private, never in the shop or on the street. I cover the options in where you can actually smoke in Bangkok, and the whole process in my guide to weed in Bangkok. If you want to verify any shop yourself, here is how to read the sticker and check the register.
If your shop's name barely shows in search, it is fixable. Branded search grows when people have a reason to remember your name: a story, a standout staff member, content worth sharing. I go into the mechanics in dispensary SEO in Bangkok.
Fame and quality overlap in Bangkok, but not as much as you would think. The famous names are mostly good. Several of the best shops are hardly searched at all. My Certified Bangkok list has 40+ shops that passed every test, searched or not, and it is free by email from the curated list page.
I share honest reviews of the famous names and the hidden ones on Instagram. The owners behind several of these brands talk shop inside Reefers Club, an invite only community of people in the Thai cannabis industry. And if you run a shop that deserves more people typing its name into Google, that is the marketing and content work I do.
Search the name if you like. Then smell the jar before you trust it.
Written by someone who spent an evening staring at keyword data and then went back to opening jars, which is more fun.
This article reflects personal observations from extensive dispensary visits and third party keyword estimates, which are approximate. Shop details, hours and licence status change, so confirm before you go. Legal purchase in Thailand requires a PT33 prescription. Consume in private only. Adults 20+ only.
